Details
The camp’s location in the Quake Lake area offers ready access to a rich variety of natural habitats on site, as well as in the adjacent Custer-Gallatin National Forest. Grassland, shrub-steppe, montane forest and riparian habitats are all well represented, making for a rich outdoor classroom. The secluded nature of the site allows for flexibility and innovation. The end result enriches the imagination and sense of adventure that leads to impactful learning.
Campers also will explore the fascinating world of biological and geological science in the world’s first national park. Campers can expect to hike 5 +/- miles daily to experience Grand Prismatic Spring, Old Faithful, Yellowstone Falls and the Lamar Valley, often called America’s Serengeti for its sizeable and easy-to-see populations of large animals.
Learning skills on the high ropes
Recreational activities include whitewater rafting on the Yellowstone River and hiking in and around the Yellowstone area. Campers also will enjoy and be challenged by a high ropes course.
The cost of this camp is $1,295 for all six days. Included in the cost of the camp is transportation, housing, meals, snacks and all learning and recreational activities. Students leave from Montana Learning Center’s campus on Canyon Ferry Lake on Sunday afternoon and return there on Friday afternoon.
