MLC Founders’ College Scholarship Program

The MLC Founder’s College Scholarship Program proudly selects one or two exceptional students each year who have demonstrated outstanding critical thinking, extensive knowledge, and a passion for STEM. These students are chosen for their potential to create innovations that will positively impact the world. Many recipients start their journey with MLC as campers and continue as valued staff members, further refining their expertise and excelling in their college careers. These distinguished individuals are recognized in STEM fields for their curiosity, work ethic, integrity, leadership, communication skills, and collaborative spirit.

This scholarship celebrates students committed to shaping a brighter future for generations to come. At MLC, we champion immersive education that empowers bright young minds to become pioneers in the sciences. Our scholars actively seek opportunities to make a positive impact, applying scientific principles with confidence and determination to create meaningful change.

Gil & Marilyn Alexander, founders of the Montana Science Institute

The scholarships are generously supported by Merrilee Alexander Kick, a Capital High School alumna from Helena, Montana, and the entrepreneur behind BuzzBallz, a premium ready-to-drink cocktail brand. This scholarship honors her parents, Gil and Marilyn Alexander, founders of the Montana Science Institute, which evolved into today’s Montana Learning Center. Their passion for science earned them recognition from two U.S. Presidents and the Christa McAuliffe “Teacher in Space Fellowship.” The scholarship also pays tribute to the institute’s educators who played a crucial role in guiding students during the early years. Over 40 years later, the founders’ legacy continues to inspire students to discover their passion for STEM.
